As few of us know,Max payne is the toughest SOB the gaming industry has ever seen. And here are some reasons on why so.During my childhood I was an 'A' grade console gamer, from Atari to Nintendo to Sega to Play-station,I owned them all and only a handful of people who gamed came very little close to my proficiency. When I turned 13,I decided to enter the world of PC gaming and bought myself one.And since,I was new to the PC gaming world,I was highly confounded at the local DVD store on what to buy as my first ever PC game. After an hour or two of searching,I had had finally decided to buy 'Septerra Core' and 'Max Payne'.
Later that afternoon, yet again I was quite baffled to figure out which box to unravel first and enjoy the delicacies inside! Then,I noticed a little catch phrase on the box of 'Max Payne',which read "Do not cross a man with nothing to lose!",there and then it was decided that I was gonna play 'Max Payne' first.During my days of youth,a hero was considered intruging and everyone loved to play or read about one. But,Max Payne was never a hero, why would he be one, when his wife and daughter were brutally murdered in the hands of some crazy drug-addicted luntics, who were all a part of a big conspiracy?Hence, the tile of 'Anti-Hero' was made famous by Max Payne alone. As,I was playing through the game,I felt cheerfully-devastated by the dark,sorrowful,sin-city kind of theme through all of it.'Max Payne' was never about casual gaming,it was about sending a message to it's audience, life can never be perfect or fair, rather, life can never even be mediocre,it'll just get worse and worse, till you get the sweet release of death. The only way to avoid a wretched life ahead is to fight back your worst fear, even if it costs you your life.
Apart from the realistic dark theme and storyline offered by 'Max Payne',this game had an additional feature called 'The Bullet Time'.In case you don't know what's bullet time,it's the same effect you see in 'The Matrix' where time slows down, your heart beats louder and every effect that physics has to offer seems all too clear!'The Bullet Time' is one of the reasons why 'Max Payne' is second to none. And I'll be damned if some dumb freaks compare 'The Bullet Time' with 'Slow Motion',it's a blunder to even think they are the same!
What can I say about the graphic novels offered by the game?Amazing voice acting, presentation and a lot of subtle metaphor's through out it's depiction. This game was rated 'M' by the ESRB for excessive violence, gore and sexual content, this game was nothing short of a film noir.If I were to describe Max Payne in a single sentence, then it would be this.Max Payne is a fugitive cop,who is by far the most unluckiest man to ever walk on God's green earth, who is hell bent on revenge even if it meant his demise during the process.I say the unluckiest because he has lost everything and the reaper seems to have lost his address and the Grim's inevitable visit has most certainly been delayed. In a way,we can all relate ourselves to this man, there is a limit to where we leave things up to God to fix it,if that limit is crossed then the border between good and evil becomes evanescent.
In the end,I just want to showcase the legend who is Max Payne.I will be posting all of the graphic novels either in video or pictorial format, which will contain the storylines of 'Max Payne 1' and 'Max Payne 2:The Fall Of Max Payne' and also a section for the movie updates, trailers and reviews.
